Dearest Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are all well. It was so great to see a lot of you at our first school Mass yesterday! We are truly a community of prayer as we praise and worship God together! I look forward to seeing you all at our School Masses which take place once a month on Sunday at the 11:00am service. Looking ahead, please note the following announcements/reminders – our Newsletter is attached.
-STAR Testing – Please note that students will be STAR Testing through November 16th! Make sure your child gets a good night rest and healthy breakfast this week and next week!
–Kids A-Z account: Last week, I sent instructions on how your child can access their Kids A-Z account at home. Benefits of their Kids A-Z account is that they are able to access audio and e-books catered to their independent levels. Students can listen to books being read to them (this helps them grow in fluency as they listen to good readers) and also have access to an extensive e-library beyond the library books that they check out weekly in school. For their 20 minutes of reading HW, they have the option to read from their library books or books from their Kids A-Z account. Your child was sent home with log-in information for my 2nd grade classroom last week. For your convenience, please see below for Login Instructions:
-Go to www.kidsa-z.com-Enter or choose the teacher’s username: stina3
–Your child finds his/her username on the class chart
-Your child enters his/her password
–Chapter 2 Math Test and Math Guides: I have sent home your child’s Chapter 2 Math Test. Please sign them and return them by the week’s end, Friday 11/9. Corrections are optional and will be accepted only until Friday. Moreover, I’ve attached Math Help Guides to the Newsletter for you as a parent and also for the students to complete Math HW this week. Please note the corresponding Math HW pages I had labeled on the Math Guides
–Gate on Berendo Street: This is a reminder that we will be closing the 161st St. gate immediately after PM carline, and we will instead, keep the residential Berendo gate open. Please make sure to pass this information on to any relatives or representatives in charge of picking up your student after school because this Berendo gate will be the only way to access our campus after 4pm when the school office closes. Thanks!
–Free Dress Passes for School Mass: if your child attends any school Mass on Sundays, they are able to get a free dress pass right after Mass by the Choir pit. The free dress pass is available for use only the following Tuesday! This means, if they have their Mass Free Dress Pass from this past Sunday, they must use the pass tomorrow, Tuesday, 11/6!! Thanks!
–Seminarians helping in the classroom!: Just in case you were wondering, we are blessed to have the presence of brother seminarians on campus on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to help out in the classrooms. Currently, 2nd grade is blessed to have Brother Jose Luis on Monday mornings and Brother Joseph on Wednesday mornings. They are here to help, but also serve as a witness to the priesthood! I’m grateful to have extra support in the classroom.
–Events to Look forward to: More information will be given next week!
-Friendsgiving Luncheon for Kinder, 1st, and 2nd Grade on Wednesday, 11/21 (Noon Dismissal)
-Field Trip to see Elf: Wednesday, 12/5
