It was so nice to begin the season of Advent at our school Mass yesterday!
This week our focus letter is J and sight word is are. In math we have started to explore addition concepts. We are practicing putting two groups together to make one larger group.
We will join with the 4th grade to celebrate Las Posadas on Friday from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Students will have the option to dress as shepherds, angels, or barnyard animals for the event. If you would like your child to dress up for las Posadas, please send a costume in a labeled bag. All costumes will be worn on top of their uniforms. Students will dress up after lunch only. This is optional, but will be a lot of fun.
This Thursday is the kindergarten ornament and snack sale. If you’re available to help during the sale, beginning at 2:20, please let me know. Thank you to those who have signed up for donations to the sale. Please bring in all items tomorrow.
The kindergartners worked very hard on making ornaments and had a lot of fun in their ornament making workshop. These will look great on your tree and also make wonderful handmade gifts for grandparents, aunts, etc. You’ll also want some for your memory books! They sell for $4 each and if you buy 5 you will get one free!
If you cannot make it to our ornament sale, but would like to make a purchase, you may send money in a sealed envelope in your child’s folder on Wednesday and we will send ornaments home with them. Please be sure to label the envelope with the word ornaments, your child’s name along with the number of ornaments you are purchasing and how much money is included. (ex. Ornaments, Olivia Patel, 5 ornaments, $20).
The Christmas show is on Thursday, December 13th. All students will meet in the classroom at 5:30pm. Please see the following from Mrs. Garcia, our music teacher, regarding dress code:
You will be wearing Poinsettia (Christmas) red! Boys should dress in nice dress shirt tops (Red) with black dress pants (NO JEANS), and black shoes and socks. Girls can either wear a red formal dress with leggings (socks or tights in tan, white, or black) and black dress shoes. Or they can wear a red blouse with a black skirt, white tights and black dress shoes. Hair should be nicely done. For the girls, make sure it looks nice and formal.
Finally, as a reminder please sign your child’s behavior chart daily. Students color the chart themselves at the end of each day. The chart is counted as part of your child’s work habits and behavior grade.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Ms. Strohm
