Dear Parents and Guardians:
We are delighted to announce auditions for Aladdin Jr.! This year the show will be a complete after school activity for students in 3rd-8thgrade. Students can sign up for auditions through sign up genius online (with your help), or at school. Typically, it is encouraged for students to come in with an audition partner, but is not required.
Auditions this year will be on Thursday, January 24thand Friday, January, 25thduring recess, lunch, and after school. This year, audition materials can be accessed through Mrs. Garcia’s google drive. Please email her if you would like access! This will allow students to rehearse with music and have extra copies of the parts of the script they will be reading. Students should bring the following to auditions:
- Filled Out Audition Form
- Signed Company Contract
- Script they will be reading
Callbacks will be on Tuesday, January 29th. If you are auditioning please note the callback date since you might be called back for a second look. Callbacks do not mean you have the role, but they mean we would like to see more of you. If you do not receive a callback, that doesn’t mean you do not have a role as we might have been able to cast you just from your first audition. The cast list will be sent out at the end of that week.
Rehearsals will be predominately on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Thursday will be for choreography and Ms. Lozano is our choreographer this year. Tuesdays, we will be working on blocking and music. In addition to rehearsals these two days of the week, occasionally there will be rehearsals on Wednesday. As we get closer to the show, rehearsals will increase in number to make sure we are ready to perform. A detailed schedule will be given to you once students are cast in the show.
This year, there will be a $40 fee to be in the show. This includes cost for the actor’s script, part of the show rights, and pizza party costs (to be used during a rehearsal or the week following the show to celebrate).
Lastly, you will be required to buy or create costumes for your students. I will provide you guidelines and ideas and then it will be your responsibility to create them. As always, we want to have the students looking fantastic while spending the least amount of money possible.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me! I look forward to working with the students and making this production a truly magical experience!
God Bless, Mrs. Garcia
