Classroom Wishlist
Our class is starting to run out of some important classroom supplies. If you are willing and able, please consider donating any of the following supplies below:
- White Copy Paper
Snacks
Parents, I encourage you to send snacks for your kid everyday. Our firsties get hungry during the day and our class doesn’t have daily supply of snacks for all of them. I also ask that it be a healthy, non-sugary food that is nut-free. Because of individual dietary restrictions, I do not encourage them to share food with each other.
First Grade Fundraiser for John’s Incredible Pizza Co. gift cards
Now until December 31, please support our John’s Incredible Pizza Co. gift card fundraiser. A portion of the profits generated from this fundraiser will help us offset some of the costs to make our field trips happen. We will have two (2) field trips on April (Aquarium of the Pacific) and May (Dog Man the Musical)
Here’s how it works:

Tribes Agreement:
We will continue to review our Tribes Agreements as we work our way through our school year. Please continue to encourage your children to follow these agreements even at home! The Tribes Agreements are:
- Mutual Respect
- Attentive Listening
- Appreciations/No Putdowns
- Right to Pass
- Personal Best
SELF-DIRECTED LEARNERSSelf Directed Learning is a one of the systems of support that we practice in our school. Self-directed learners take responsibility for their own learning. As parents and teachers, we empower and support children as they learn the skills to allow them to learn anything such as how to:
- Set Goals
- Make Plans
- Ask questions
- Complete work on time
- Work Independently
- Complete task without being asked
Our firsties are aware and familiar with this process. You might want to implement these at home too! I believe that it’s a useful method that we can use to increase ownership and responsibility in our firsties, and support them in creating their own learning path.
Please see the attached file of the self-directed learner anchor chart
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation! Have a great evening!
Warmly,Ms. Martinez
