Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy Memorial Day! On this special national holiday, all our prayers and gratitude go out to those who have selflessly served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Our thoughts are also with those who have lost loved ones. With our faith, we live in hope that we will be reunited with all our family and friends who have gone before us, in heaven one day. I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and continue to stay healthy and well.
Mark your calendars as next week, 6/2, is our New Parent Orientation for our Kinder Parents and New Families. A PowerPoint Presentation will be sent out in lieu of an in-person meeting. Crossover Day is on 6/3. Your child will meet their new teacher for next year on that day via Zoom, and your child will get a supply list and summer packet/assignments to prepare them for the next grade level!
If you are following the news, you know that things are changing every day. Just this past Friday, the City of Gardena sent me an email telling me that car parades are now acceptable for graduations. This was different guidance from just a few days ago, so I am hopeful that we will be able to safely reopen our school in the fall, following all safety guidelines as recommended by the CDC. Things continue to be fluid and we are following the situation closely. As soon as I get updates I will be sure to inform you, as I want to plan ahead as well.
This weekend all principals got a message from the Archdiocese of LA Superintendent Paul Escala, and he reiterated that we will be following the guidance of health officials in terms of reopening our Catholic schools safely. As we plan for the coming school year, the decision to return to in-person instruction in fall will be made by health officials. Our goal is to safely return to campuses and should become necessary during the school year, prepare for the resumption of distance learning. The archdiocese is working with state and local authorities on campus health and safety measures that will align with our distinctive Catholic schools. This process is fluid and changes daily. We should, however, expect a decision and guidance from state and local officials no later than Monday, June 15. Again, as new developments emerge, we will keep you informed.
God bless,
Mrs. Grey, Principal
