Hello Third Grade Families,
Here are some questions/ concerns that we would like to address and share some questions from some parents. I hope it answers all your questions as well. We are hoping to finalize all our school plans by next week. We greatly appreciate your understanding.
Will the school require my child to be vaccinated to attend the hybrid option?
Currently there is no COVID vaccine available for children under the age of 16. Children should be vaccinated for polio, DTaP, MMR, Hepatitis B and Varicella (chickenpox) in order to attend. These records should be on file with the school office.
Who chooses what 2 days my child will attend?
Please note, the sample schedule is just that…a sample. It is likely to change once we know how many students will return to campus. Once we have this information, we will work to create cohorts to keep siblings on the same schedule as much as possible. Because of this, we are not accepting schedule requests at this time.
Is it possible to switch the days for that week in case there will be appointments scheduled that fall on the student’s set school day?
No, cohorts need to be stable groups. There can be no mixing of students from other cohorts. If a child is absent on their in-person day, there is no way to make it up.
I have multiple children. Will they have the same schedule?
We are working hard to ensure siblings are on the same schedule. We want to make things as easy as possible for families.
Is there any day care provided after class dismissal?
No, we are unable to offer after school daycare at this time.
How many students are expected in the classroom?
The number of students in each group does depend on the survey results. We have 28 students, so far, I have 24 that is coming back to school, we would have 12-13 students in each group. Of course, this is a rough estimate and everything is very fluid at this time.
Would there still be enough space to social distance in the classroom?
Yes, our guidance states…that a minimum 6 feet of physical distance between all students and staff remains the strong recommendation, and appropriate physical barriers should be used where 6 feet of distancing is not possible, but under no circumstances should distance between student seating be less than 4 feet.
Desks will be at least 4 feet apart. We also have desk barriers for each student. Using the hybrid model allows for less students in the room at once to meet the distancing requirements.
How will social encounters go, considering social distancing standards to keep everyone Covid safe?
We are mindful of social distancing during social times/recess and lunch. Students will be able to play with their friends, while keeping a distance. We will be distanced while eating. Students would not be allowed to play games that involve touching each other or sharing equipment, like tag or basketball. Games like hopscotch and jump rope are possible.
Will classes be from 7:30-3pm?
Please see attached sample schedule as soon as we finalized all the staggered times for pick up/drop off, recess/lunch times. I will send a final daily schedule to everyone.
Is the school going to be strict with the students that has a minimal symptom?
If your child has seasonal allergies, please contact your doctor before we even have your child here in school. Sneezing/ coughing can easily spread germs. So, if your child is sneezing, coughing or having allergies, we will not accept them in class.
Should you have other questions / concerns please let me know. Thank you and God Bless!
