Good afternoon first grade families,
Blessed Saturday! Here are all the information that you and your child will need for the week of 8/30-9/3. Once again parents, please read all the information provided on my emails to avoid questions that are clearly stated on the emails.
Blue homework folder
Students MUST return their blue homework folder to school every day WITH their signed behavior chart. A bin will be placed outside the first grade classroom every morning for these folders. They should be placed in number order. This should be done as soon as they hang their backpacks. Turning in homework folder every morning will be part of their work habits grade.
Behavior chart
Our clip chart is our positive behavior management system that will help the first graders make good choices throughout the week. The colors are as follows:
Pink– SUPER STUDENT!
Purple– Awesome Behavior
Blue– Good choices
Green– Ready to Learn
Yellow– Think about it
Orange– Teacher Choice
Red- Parent Contact
Every child starts off the day on, “Ready to Learn” (green). Students can clip up for making good choices. Students may clip down for making poor choices in the classroom.
Every day, students will come home with a behavior/homework chart (placed in their homework folder, inside the clear protector sheet) They will fill in the color they finished the day on in the classroom. Parents/guardians are asked to sign their behavior chart every day to ensure you are informed on your child’s progress. This will then be entered into Gradelink every end of the week. Every day, behavior charts are being checked so parents please check your child’s behavior chart and sign it. If the behavior chart is not signed or is lost, points will be taken off of their behavior grade.
**This will be explained in more depth at Back to School Night on Sept 8!!!**
Star test
Our STAR testing will start on Tuesday, Aug 31st. Please make sure your child had enough sleep and healthy breakfast for this week. This test will assess what your child knows from kinder.
Return & Sign documents
I returned some important papers that parents must fill up and sign, please check your child’s homework folder. Please return it by Monday, Aug 30. The documents that need to be signed includes, school pick up form, Christian code of Conduct and CPLA form. Please check the back pages of each document. The CPLA form is for counselling, please read the information carefully.
Tablets/devices
Please make sure that your child’s device is charged 100% every day before coming to school. All applications must be downloaded, it’ll be easier for students to navigate on their iPad/tablets. Seesaw, Freckle by renaissance, Raz-kids, & Epic must be downloaded on your child’s devices. I noticed some students doesn’t have their Freckle app. Below are some links that might be helpful for downloading the app.

Freckle for Androids/ tablets users- I tried to look for the app on google play but can’t find it.
Please pin/bookmark this website on your child’s browser. https://student.freckle.com/#/login
I still have some students that have devices that are connected to their parents’ emails or other social media accounts. Kindly turn it off or put it in a folder with a password so students can’t access it while in school. Personal games must also be in a folder that students can’t access while in school. I would like to ask you to help me organize the apps on your child’s devices. Please show your child where they can access or navigate all our school apps independently.
Emails/calls/messages/social media accounts MUST be disabled/turned off.
Office emails
Parents, the office sent out weekly emails. Please make sure to also read their reminders for all families. Information regarding lunch menu, uniform, finances, school updates were all sent by the office. If you need to order hot lunch for your child, it must be done in advance in the office.
