Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
We have successfully completed our first 2 weeks of school, and so far, the students have done great with the adjustment of coming back from summer! Students typically need some time to adapt to new teacher expectations and routines, but thus far, all of the teachers have reported that students are taking on the new responsibilities of the next grade level seriously, and we have high hopes for a very successful academic year. Today we celebrate our Pastor, Msgr. Sal Pilato’s birthday! We offer our prayers of thanksgiving up for a wonderful, pastoral leader for our school and we wish him many blessings and happy birthdays to come.
Please mark your calendars for Monday, September 6: Labor Day No School
A very warm welcome to ALL our new parents and students––especially those in our Kindergarten class! I look forward to many years of partnership as we provide for your child’s religious and academic education together.
This week is our Kindergarten students’ first full week of school! Dismissal is at 3pm, and every Wednesday is 1:30pm dismissal. Daycare is offered till 6pm for $12/day per child. Happy Lunch continues to serve lunch from Monday-Friday. Lunch is $6.50. Please put money in an envelope and put your child’s name and grade on it and turn it in to the front office.
Next Wednesday, 9/8, is our BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT Mandatory General Parent Meeting at 6:30pm on Zoom. Vicki Marsha Uniform will be on campus in Rm 7 that day. The time will be finalized shortly.
Families can visit their child/ren’s respective grade level(s) after our Mandatory General Parent Meeting on Zoom (teachers will send out their links links). Please see your child’s teacher’s email messages for more information about block schedules and Classroom information. You will sign up for October parent conferences at that time. PLC Lead meetings and Room Parent Meetings will be held on Zoom. Stay tuned for more info.
Leah Nakayama, our Fundraising PLC Chair, will be reaching out to everyone soon to update you on Fundraising for this year. If you ordered chocolates for the annual Fall Fundraiser, you can pick up your candies on campus before Back to School Night. You can also choose to opt out of selling chocolates and pay the fee outright or roll it into FACTS, or increase your Scrip commitment for the year. We will also be selling tickets in December for our Hawaiian Raffle valued at $3000 for 1st Place.
Thank you for all the love, support, and prayers for my mom. Please note that I will be going home to see my family for a private Memorial Mass for my mother from 9/2-9/7. My siblings, father, and I are currently planning a public Memorial Mass for her in October. In my absence, Mrs. Navia will be in charge. Thank you and God bless you all.

ALLERGIES/EMERGENCY CARDS
If your child has any allergies or serious medical concerns, please be sure to notify our office as well as your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. Emergency cards and contact info must be current and updated in the office as needed. WE NEED THE EMERGENCY CARDS RETURNED IMMEDIATELY… This is extremely important in order to make sure we have accurate and updated records for your child. If your child has a medical condition or has allergies, we need to know this up front and have a plan in case of an emergency. Any medication must be self-administered by the child or by the parent, and permission for us to administer medicine must be in writing.
HANDBOOK AND IMPORTANT FORMS
Parents, please read the latest Parent Student Handbook online (the current one online is binding) at our website stanthonygardena.org to be up to date on our policies. Some rules and procedures have slightly changed, so please pay special attention to those changes. Please read and fill out all paperwork sent home and return to the office immediately. 100% compliance is greatly appreciated. If you want Counseling Services for your child through CPLA, those consent forms should be returned ASAP. Please pay close attention to the Christian Code of Conduct and Parent Student Pledge.
PLC SERVICE HOURS (30 hours per family this year)
All families must meet the 30 service hour commitment this year (10 per trimester). Please let me know if you want to be a PLC lead or if you are looking for hours. We need people to help with yard duty from 12-1 M-F and Daycare from 3-6 most days. Thanks in advance! You can also donate items to Daycare for service hours or donate gift cards to the office for service hours (1 service hour = $10)
SSSP Donation
The St. Sebastian Sport Project (SSSP) gave us a $2000 grant and sports equipment for our school last week. We are so grateful for their generous support of our students! The equipment is being used by all students during recess, lunch, PE, and after school in daycare. It is a beautiful sight to see kids laughing and playing together again outside! Their laughter makes me so happy. God bless all our donors.
