Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year! We are off to an amazing start with our beautiful new school! Our major renovations started on June 20 and it was completed on 8/22! Special thanks to the Shea Family Charities and Vancrest Construction for their generosity and hard work! All of the students, teachers and parents are feeling extremely enthusiastic about what promises to be a memorable school year! A warm welcome to all our new school families! Today we have our first day of school Welcome Back Meet and Greet Coffee and Donuts, and our first weekly school morning assembly outside by the St. Jude statue. Our junior high will be attending Mass daily starting on 9/1, so we will plan to meet at least once a week (usually on Wednesdays) as a whole school at assembly. Every other day we will do announcements at 7:50 on the PA system.
Our first Student Body Mass will be on Friday, 9/2 at 8am. All are welcome! Next week, Kindergarten will start school on 9/6 after LABOR DAY. There is NO SCHOOL for Labor Day. Kinder will have 12 NOON dismissal next week. For Grades 1-8, dismissal this week is at NOON. Daycare is offered from 12-6pm the first 3 weeks of school with Ms. Pattie Padilla. We also welcome our new instructional aides (hired by Catapult Learning): Ms. Samantha Cisneros, Ms. Gabby Yesenia, Ms. Maria Rendon, and Ms. Lupita Zepeda. Please welcome them onto our campus. Morning care starts daily at 7:30am, when a staff member is supervising students. The bell rings at 7:50 am and those not present will be marked tardy. Attendance will affect a child’s Work Habits grade.
Thursday, 9/21, is BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT at 6:30 pm in the Hall for all parents/guardians. CHILDCARE MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE during the meeting, so please keep your children at home or they must stay with you at all times. Vicki Marsha will be on campus and you can pick up your chocolates that day for the Fall fundraiser. We will have two sessions of information in the classrooms to accommodate those with multiple children: 7pm–7:25pm and 7:30pm-7:55pm. Junior high will be meeting twice as a collective unit in the hall. 6th-8th grade parents may visit classrooms in junior high, but they will not do individual presentations in their class. Please be sure to not conference with the teachers too much afterwards so they can go home and get rest for the next day of teaching. The school will close at 8pm sharp. Parents with multiple children, please coordinate with your teachers to get packets.
This time of year, though hectic, is really a favorite time for educators as we receive our new students and have another opportunity to do what we love –educate… I pray that the excitement that we all feel the first week of school remains with us throughout the year, knowing full well that God is with us through every moment, especially the difficult ones. Please keep all families who are bearing extremely heavy crosses at this time in your prayers. God bless you all.
