Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Wednesday was our soft launch for our Spring Fundraiser: Express Feedback for Good (EFG). On the tuition contract it is listed as EFG/JAT (Jog-a-Thon). EFG will take the place of our JAT this year. Today is our official KICKOFF of our EFG Fundraiser. Last Wednesday was our soft launch, so the competition is well underway. Our goal is to earn $40,000 for our school in a few weeks from 1/23-2/17! Each brand survey you do online is worth $1.60. Please spread the word. Each adult (18 and over) is encouraged to become a “Superstar” by doing 75 brand opinions from the comfort of their phone/device. There are no products to sell and it costs nothing, only your time! Each survey takes about a minute. You and your family and friends will earn 2 service hours for each Superstar designated to your child. More info has been sent from our PLC lead, Angelic Nunez-Scott. Those who DO NOT participate can pay out their $100 fundraising fee, listed on the tuition contract. We hope you will participate in this FUN-raiser for great prizes and incentives for your child and their class!
Catholic Schools’ Week is coming up and our Family Mass is at 11am in the Church this Sunday, January 29. Our Annual Open House will be at the school, in person, from 12-2pm this year, and as always, we appreciate you referring your friends and family to our school! Don’t forget we have some incentives for this. I will be conducting private tours, and can schedule meetings with prospective families as well. If someone you know would like to schedule a tour on campus, please contact me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org. Any family who would like to sign up to speak at one of our Masses to promote our school to prospective families, please let me or Amy Lucas Palanca know. You can earn service hours for this. From 12:45-1:45 we will have performances in the Hall by our Folkorico team, our piano players, and our Music Ministry. Please come and support and spread the word! Our 8th grade class will be leading the bake sale that day after Mass. Students who wear their formal Mass uniforms can earn a Free Dress pass if they see their teacher that day. Open House kicks off Catholic Schools’ Week. Dress up days and activities will be emailed separately for that week, once finalized by our Student Government.
We are excited to have Special Persons’ Day, next Friday, Feb 3. We will have our All School Mass on Friday at 8am (not at 10am as in years past, since Msgr. Sal will be out of town). That day is also St. Blaise’s feast day, so there may be a blessing of the throats during Mass. ALL students can invite somebody they consider “special” to them, an adult 18 or older. We will celebrate Mass together honoring that Special Person. The 8th grade class is having a fundraiser on Friday. You may choose to have brunch together on campus from 9:45-11, or sign your child out after Mass and take them off campus to eat after Mass. That day is a Noon Dismissal. Please mark your calendars and let your teachers know who your child’s Special Person will be. If none is named, your child will stay with their classroom teacher.
Our 2nd STAR testing window will continue from now through February 7. We will have one more STAR testing window at the end of the year to measure student progress. Progress reports go home on February 8, which is the same day as our 2nd Mandatory General Parent Meeting. Please attend in person to avoid a $50 fine for non-participation.
Teaching Touching Safety (TTS) lessons will be completed by 2/1. Thank you all for your cooperation in safeguarding all our children.
Parents, please return the SNOR form, if applicable, by 1/25, and also if your child in K-5 is interested in after school activities offered by Professor Egghead, please see the survey Mrs. Ray sent out.
Blessings,
Mrs. Grey and Mr. Lynch

SAP STUDENTS GIVE TO THOSE IN NEED 1/30-2/3/23
Good Shepherd Center is in need of basic hygiene supplies. They have specifically requested toothpaste, toothbrush, and shampoo/conditioner of any size for their centers and mobile outreach program. This center in Los Angeles is run by Catholic Charities with Sr. Jennifer as their director and Sr. Rosaline as their outreach person. Both sisters are members of the Lovers of the Holy Cross Sisters. Please see the attached flyer for more information. They would greatly appreciate our support in their mission of serving Christ in the poor. See the flyer below. Thank you and God bless.
SCHOOL DONATIONS AND SERVICE HOURS
For families looking to pay off their service hour commitment, our school gives the option to buy Scrip/gift cards and donate them to SAP. We buy a lot of materials and supplies from Office Depot, Walmart/Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Starbucks, and Target for much needed supplies, so if you buy Scrip valued at $15/hour and donate it to the school to offset costs, we will credit your service hour account. Parents who volunteer on Saturdays (every 2-3 weeks) can earn service hours cleaning our school with the Interior Maintenance PLC. Please join the group. Thanks in advance!
IMPORTANT EARLY REGISTRATION and RE-REGISTRATION INFO for RETURNING FAMILIES

New Kindergarten Registration is now happening for preschool students and siblings of current students. Congratulations to all our new students who have been accepted to our school for the 2023-2024 school year at our Kinder Round up on 1/21 with Mrs. McCabe!
