Dear Fourth grade Families,
I am hoping that you had a great three day weekend. In this email there will be information about the class for next week 9/2-9/6. It will be appreciated if you could read it as it may answer some of your concerns.
Google Classroom
Google classroom is used as reference for work done in class and occasionally I put grades which will count as participation during class. It is part of the behavior grade NOT classwork.
Google classroom is the preferred way to communicate with my students and I am able to directly respond to their questions especially if they need help on homework. Please parents if you wish to communicate with me, email me.
Last but not least, I like to post videos on google classroom that directly target the learning of the day. This is to help students if they want to use it as an extra resource.
Absences/ Makeup tests
If your child is sick, I recommend providing a doctor’s note to excuse the absence and/ or email. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child is prepared to take the missed tests. Please take an appointment with me for Mondays (or the first day of the week) for makeup. If I don’t have any appointments, your child won’t take the makeup and it will affect your child’s grade.
Homework
Daily homework will be written in the students’ planner. Please check and sign to acknowledge. It also helps being aware what is going on
Everyday
Students MUST bring the following to school. This is part of their daily school materials.
- Homework folder
- Student Planner
- Fully charged devices and headphones.
The Wild Robot is needed for this week.
Water Bottles
This is a kindly reminder that it is preferred that students come with their non-glass water container so that they can have water available at all times and don’t need to drink from the fountain. This week will be hot, please let’s try to make sure that students are staying hydrated.
Homework
Homework is assigned to help your student and directly assess their understanding. It is important not to do the homework for them and also to tell me where/if your child struggled in any area. This will allow me to better assist them. I will say that it will be a good habit to have students doing homework daily because it helps catch any problem before it gets worse.
Math: Every time we are finishing a lesson, students will come home with homework. We will correct them the next day in class before starting the lesson. At the end of each unit, we will have a test. The students have their Into Math practice and homework book. However, students have homework based on their groups and may not be assigned the same homework as their peers. Math homework is due daily.
Vocabulary: We will have a vocabulary test every other week. The students will receive vocabulary words with the list of activities that they have to do daily.
Spelling : Spelling words will be assigned from their textbook instead of their list from last week. Students may choose 3 activities (one for each day), then bring them stapled together in the homework bin.
