Mrs. Rubalcava attended Gardena public schools where she was actively involved in athletics playing softball from the age of 5 throughout high school, and basketball from middle school through High School. Prior to becoming a mother of three, she worked for the Richstone Family Center, working with prenatal moms through preschool children through the HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) and PAT (Parents as Teachers) programs offered through the Lawndale School District. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Services from the University of Phoenix in 2008. Her experience in HIPPY and PAT made her realize the importance of being the primary educator for her own children and she had the opportunity to become a stay-at-home mom to provide for her children until they reached school age.
While raising her kids, Mrs. Rubalcava became increasingly passionate about teaching her family to live a healthy and active lifestyle. She became knowledgeable in developing healthy eating and exercise habits. Mrs. Rubalcava is passionate about instilling these values into her students. In addition to taking college courses in kinesiology, she has participated in Cross-fit and currently enjoys staying active through hiking, weightlifting, bike riding, swimming and other outdoor activities. She has coached community youth softball and soccer teams.
Since 2016, she has been actively involved at St. Anthony of Padua school as a PE aid, Daycare instructor, kinder aide. Mrs. Rubalcava became the SAP Physical Education Instructor in the fall of 2018. Every year since she grown a deeper appreciation for her students and school community. Mrs. Rubalcava has also been an active member of the St. Anthony parish community which has been her spiritual home since childhood. She served as a Core member for the LIFE TEEN program at St. Anthony’s for 6 years and has served as the coordinator for weddings and Quinceanera ceremonies for the parish since 2005. Having witnessed the experience of her own children in the Catholic school environment at St. Anthony’s and the impact it makes on affirming the values of faith and knowledge within a caring and supportive community, she looks forward to serving the students of St. Anthony’s as a Physical Education instructor, teaching them the importance of recognizing God’s presence through healthy and active living.
