Principal’s Message – 6/12/2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s hard to believe we have reached our last week of school!  We graduated our 8th grade class and celebrated all our fathers last week, and they were memorable experiences.

Tomorrow is St. Anthony of Padua’s Feast Day, and Wednesday is our whole school Sports Day. We hope to see you all there! It should be a fun day, led by Coach Jay, our amazing PE teacher!

Monday and Tuesday June 12 and June 13 are our last full days of school. Wednesday and Thursday, June 14 and June 15, we have 12 NOON DISMISSAL with daycare offered until 6pm. Friday, June 16, is our last day of school before we break for Summer. On Friday, we have our 3rd Trimester Mass and Awards Ceremony before teachers pass out the students’ report cards in their classrooms (this is for students whose parents have met all their financial obligations. Report cards will be held otherwise). Then students are dismissed at 10am on Friday. There will be a staff luncheon at noon off campus, so no events will take place after school that day, and there is NO DAYCARE AVAILABLE. Please pick up your children early or make arrangements to have them picked up by someone, so that no one is left on campus after school, and our staff can participate in the luncheon, after they have closed up their classrooms.

I wish to thank each and every one of you for a tremendous year. We made it through together and created many new memories that will last our children a lifetime. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to Catholic education and investing in your children’s future.

God bless,

Mrs. Grey, Principal

Coach Jay is putting together a fun-filled day of activities on Wed, June 14. Please be sure students wear sunscreen, athletic shoes, clothes they don’t mind getting wet in, and that they bring an extra change of clothes. Students will be dismissed at noon. Daycare will be available till 6pm on 6/14 and 6/15.

Yearbooks are still on sale for $35.  Please make checks payable to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School.

Don’t forget to donate your clean and gently used uniforms, which your children may have outgrown, to the front office, to help benefit other school families. Your generosity is much appreciated!

Our Maintenance/Beautification committee will help Mr. Flores and Mr. Reyes (on Sundays from 8am-3pm) to install more A/C units in classrooms. We will also need help installing book shelves in the Library this summer. It’s a great way to serve our school, gain hours, and fellowship with other school parents. If you need to fulfill service hours, please contact Pattie Padilla to sign up for important school wide projects benefiting all our children! The University of Phoenix also donated more furniture to us from their Ontario and La Palma campuses. If you are free between June 25 and July 12 to help us pick up, load, and unload furniture, please let the front office know, and you can earn service hours for your family.

The last 3 days of school are EARLY dismissal, so please mark your calendars. Daycare is available till 6pm every day, except on Friday, 6/16, the last day of school. Families are dismissed right after Mass and the 3rd Trimester Awards ceremony at 10am on 6/16. NO DAYCARE will be available that day due to our all faculty and staff luncheon afterward. Report cards will be passed out that day (not earlier) and students must be present to receive them. If your child is not present, their report card will be mailed.

As you know, Sr. Lien, our full-time Kinder aide, will be leaving us at the end of the year, to be placed in a preschool in Santa Ana by her Mother Superior. We are so sad to see her go, but we appreciate the time she shared with us. In her place, we welcome Mrs. Carolina Doughty and Mrs. Monica Rubalcava, who will serve as part-time Kinder aides next year. Since Sr. Tina Dinh will be taking over as the lead 2nd grade teacher, we will have a new aide for 2nd grade: Mrs. Lourdes Islas. We feel blessed to add these wonderful individuals to our staff next year. Please welcome them with me to our school family!

Our office will be open during the summer from 8am-12 noon. There is no Summer Camp offered this year, but we will have service projects on campus throughout the summer months. First day of school is August 23. An updated calendar of important dates for next year will be posted on the website. Have a safe and blessed summer and thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family.
