Principal’s Message – 6/11/2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s hard to believe we have reached our last week of school!  We graduated our 8th grade class last Friday, and we celebrate all our fathers this morning, at Donuts with Dads in the Hall. Thanks to all our volunteers and Happy Fathers’ Day! We had our Annual Arts Alive recital this past weekend. Congratulations to all our talented Arts Alive students for your hard work this year. Music does make you smarter–and well rounded–and the results are evident in all our English and Math STAR test scores school wide, for which we are extremely proud!  Aside from our Music and Theater program with Mrs. Garcia, we look forward to continuing our Arts Alive Jr. High Instrumental program next year for our students in grades 6-8. Thanks for your support!

Monday and Tuesday, June 11 and June 12 are our last full days of school. On Wednesday and Thursday, June 13 and June 14, we have 12 NOON DISMISSAL with daycare offered until 6pm. Friday, June 15 is our last day of school before we begin our Summer vacation. On Friday, we have our 3rd Trimester Mass and Awards Ceremony, before teachers pass out the students’ report cards in their classrooms (this is for students whose parents have met all their financial obligations. Report cards will be held otherwise). Then students are dismissed at 10am on Friday, 6/15. Please mark your calendars! There will be a staff luncheon at 12 noon off campus, so no events will take place after school that day, and there is NO DAYCARE AVAILABLE. Please pick up your children early or make arrangements to have them picked up by someone, so that no one is left on campus after school, and our staff can participate in the luncheon, after they have closed up their classrooms.

We say farewell to Fr. George, Sr. Kimberly Nguyen, Ms. Fraser, and Mr. DeLoera and we thank them for their service and dedication to our students and families. You have all made an indelible mark on our hearts. We love you all and will miss you greatly.

This Wednesday, June 13, is St. Anthony of Padua’s Feast Day, and Wednesday is our whole school Sports Day! We hope to see you all there! It should be a fun day, led by Ms. Ellen Piper, our amazing PE teacher! Students may wear PE uniforms or come in appropriate sports attire and comfortable shoes.

Congratulations to Milania Ballesteros (7th grade) for winning the yearbook cover contest!  If you haven’t purchased one for your child yet, our hard cover yearbooks are $40 each. Order your copy in the office today! Students will get their yearbooks this week.

Finally, I am thrilled to announce that St. Anthony of Padua School has been named the Daily Breeze Readers’ Choice Winner for the BEST PRIVATE SCHOOL IN THE SOUTH BAY 2018! This will be officially announced in July, but we wanted to let you know first. What a way to send off Fr. George Aguilera, our pastor, who has served our church and school faithfully for 12 years. And what an exciting way to welcome Msgr. Sal Pilato, our incoming pastor, as he starts here with us on July 1. I wish to thank each and every one of you for a tremendous year. We made it through together, and created many new memories that will last our children a lifetime. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to Catholic education and investing in your children’s future. Enjoy your summer and see you next school year!

God bless,

Mrs. Grey, Principal

The last 3 days of school are EARLY dismissals, so please mark your calendars. Daycare is available till 6pm every day, except on Friday, 6/15, the last day of school. Families are dismissed right after Mass and the 3rd Trimester Awards ceremony at 10am on Friday, 6/15. NO DAYCARE will be available that day due to our all faculty and staff luncheon afterward. If a child is not present, parents can pick up their child’s report card the following week or we can mail it to you.

Our office will be open during the summer from 8am-12 noon. There is no Summer School offered this year, but we will have service projects on campus throughout the summer months. First day of school is August 22. An updated calendar of important dates for next year will be posted on the website.

Students received their summer projects and supply lists on May 29 at Crossover Day, from their new teachers. If you haven’t received yours, please see your child’s teacher for this or check online for this info. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family and Happy Summer!
