Hello Third Grade Families,
Second Trimester is about to end this Friday, March 8th. If you are not satisfied with your grades, please let me know before Friday. I am going to make myself available Tuesday/Thursday/Friday of this week after school.
Test corrections went home today. Please do correct, sign, and return it on or before Friday, March 8th.
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and we have school mass. Students must wear their mass uniform on top of their PE uniform, or bring the PE uniform, and change after mass.
VOCABULARY WORDS:
* exhausted – completely worn out
* tired – sleepy; without energy
* resting – still or calm
* active – keeping busy or staying in motion
* energetic – powerful and highly active
* hyperactive – too much or extra energy
WORD STUDY
* Practice common compound words
Examples: doghouse, classroom, bookmark, chalkboard, sidewalk, basketball, lighthouse, input, outside, playground, and etc.

Death valley is located in California. It is famous for being one of the hottest and driest spots in the world. Death valley is also known to Badwater Basin, the lowest point in the United States, with an elevation of 282 feet below sea level.
California is the nation’s top producer of lettuce, and Monterey County grows more than half of our state’s lettuce.
Joshua tree is an amazing Colorado Desert plant that has a very long life. It can live for more than 200 years and grow 15 to 40 feet high.
Kelso Dunes are found in the Mojave Desert and appear to have a pink glow. They have been known to make strange booming sounds when hot grains of sand scrape against each other.
The Great Basin Desert has a low elevation and known as a cold desert because of its cooler temperature.
Creosote bush is an evergreen shrub that is very comfortable in our California deserts. These bushes can live 100 years or more, and can live up to two years without any rainfall. American Indians once used the bush to make medicines.
San Diego harbor has been important ever since it was discovered. It is deep enough to hold large ships, but it is also sheltered from violent storms. It used as a base of operations for the Marines, Army, and Coast Guard. It is also home to large fleet of commercial fishing boats.
