Ms. Mahar is extremely excited to enter her sixth year as the fifth grade teacher at St. Anthony of Padua School. Born and raised in Riverside, CA, Ms. Mahar attended Riverside City College (RCC), where she graduated with her Associates Degree in Social and Behavioral Studies in 2012. Deciding that she wanted a change of scenery, Ms. Mahar moved across the country to Poughkeepsie, New York to work on her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Special Education from Marist College. While Ms. Mahar attended Marist College, she student-taught in multiple local school districts, working with multiple grades such as; K-2 Special Education, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and with high school students in grades 10-12 teaching Science. After graduating from Marist college, Ms. Mahar decided to get her Master’s Degree from Loyola Marymount University in Educational Studies, in 2018. She was also in the PLACE Program.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Mahar is very athletic, she was a varsity athlete in water polo at RCC and Marist. While in college she won a State Championship in Water Polo at RCC. At Marist, Ms. Mahar made the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team. Currently, she is still competing in Masters Water Polo and is helping to coach a team in Long Beach. She is also working on competing in her first Triathlon.
Ms. Mahar has always had a talent in teaching and realized it was her calling while she was in college. She is very excited to teach and has great expectations for her students.
