Dear SAP School Families,
This past weekend our parish hosted an event for SCRC on the Feast day of St. Padre Pio. Thank you to all who attended this once in a lifetime event. The 8th grade class had a fundraiser and raised over $900 with their food sale at the event! Thank you to the Interior Maintenance Committee for cleaning our classrooms on Saturday.
Yesterday, our Folklorico group performed at St. Joseph in Hawthorne. They did a fantastic job representing our school. Congratulations!
Today is Mrs. Jessica Garcia’s birthday! We are blessed to have her as our Music and Theater teacher, and we wish her a very happy birthday.
Tonight is the Meet the Masters parent volunteer training session from 6:30-8:30 in Rm 16. You will earn service hours for the training and for teaching your child’s class the art lesson. Thank you in advance!
5th grade has a fundraiser at El Pollo Inka tomorrow 9/26, and First Grade has their fundraiser at Chuck E. Cheese on 9/29. Please support these classes off campus on those days. They will be passing out flyers this week with more information.
Our Blue Mass is this Friday 9/29 (the Feast of St. Michael and the Archangels), at 8 a.m. in the church. Following that, there will be a light reception in the Hall for our first responders. Student Government representatives will be present to greet our guests. This event was organized by our Welcoming/Hospitality PLC. We are so grateful to them for helping to make this event possible!
The 6th graders will have their Family Social on 9/29 from 5-7pm at the Brown Benches.
Re: Our Fall Chocolate Fundraiser, you can order more boxes of chocolates from Monica Torres to qualify your family for the Magic Show on 11/9, if you did not sell or pay for more than 4 boxes already. Our last Trojan Drawing will take place Thursday 9/28 at 1pm.
In regards to safety, parents, please do not park illegally in crosswalks or the red zone or in the alley perpendicular to 163rd St behind the school. Our School Resource Officer, Carlos Gutierrez from Gardena PD may be coming around to issue tickets and citations. Thanks for your cooperation. If you are asking someone else to pick up your child, please let them know about the carline rules. If these rules are broken or violated repeatedly, it may result in a ban from driving on campus. Please continue to follow the Tribes agreements, especially the agreement of MUTUAL RESPECT. I am attaching the Christian Code of Conduct. If this is violated, it could result in dismissal from the school. Thank you for your careful attention to this notice. Please be aware of all school policies and read the Parent Student Handbook online thoroughly. Some other important sections to note are the Truancy Policy, Absence Policy, and the Parent Student Pledge.
Please sign up for the PLCs you would like to serve on (contact Amy Lucas Palanca), and begin earning your 10 service hours for the first trimester. Each family must serve 30 hours a year or donate items the school needs at a value of $15/hr. There are many opportunities to serve. The school website has more info on the over 20 PLCs you can choose from, along with the names of the leads and their descriptions.
Parents, as a reminder, please do NOT pick your child up early without letting the office and teachers know beforehand. You may send an email in writing to let the teacher know so they can determine if an absence is excused or unexcused. Do also pay special attention to the Truancy Policy in the Parent Student Handbook, as it relates to attendance. Please email the office with any questions.
Thank you and God bless,
Angela Grey, Principal

If you have questions, please email the office. We will email other service hour opportunities.
VOLUNTEERS
All visitors on campus must check in and out of the office at all times and wear a VISITOR badge. All Volunteers must be Fingerprinted through the ADLA and cleared, and have a current Virtus Training Certificate. AM and PM carline and lunch yard duty volunteers (from 12-1 daily) are needed. Please email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org if you are interested. For safety reasons, please call before you come to the office and buzz yourself in. Do not prop the door open for anyone, especially strangers. All parents are welcome to join the SAFETY PLC to increase security on our campus.
HFO (Hands, Feet, and Objects) to Self
Safety is first and foremost. Please remind your child to keep their hands, feet, and all objects to themselves. They can stay in their bubbles and personal space so they stay safe and keep others safe as well. Please teach them at home about “air hugs” and “air high-fives” so they don’t actually make contact with others. We are seeing too many injuries and too many accidental touching among students that lead to more serious issues. That said, if a student receives multiple verbal warnings about this, it could result in a conduct slip or detention. In more serious issues or repeat offenses, a referral or suspension. Please remind your children about the importance of self-control. Also, for all grade levels, there is no sliding on the soccer field.
UNIFORMS
Our teachers and administration continue to enforce the uniform policy. Boys and girls should have hair that is neatly groomed. No extravagant hairstyles or colors, natural colors only (no highlights for girls). Boys with longer hair must not have it in their face or covering their eyes or ears (see info in the Handbook about the Crown Act). Girls should not have nail polish, dangling earrings (only one stud earring per ear), or wear jewelry (only religious jewelry allowed). No excessive bracelets on arms, only one simple bracelet (like a rosary bracelet). No ankle socks allowed at all, or prints or fluorescent colors on shoes. 3 uniform infractions will result in a detention and that affects the Work Habits Grade and Citizenship. Please refer to the Parent Student Handbook for the proper uniform guidelines for the 2022-2023 school year. Students may use Free Dress passes if an infraction is given, and they will be excused. Administration reserves the right to make the final decision on uniforms.
INTERIOR MAINTENANCE PLC and SERVICE HOUR BUYOUT
Please sign up for the Interior Maintenance PLC for service hours that can be earned on certain Saturdays from 12:30-3:30pm. You can also donate Scrip at the front office for school expenses. You may buy out your hours for $15/hour for Scrip such as Home Depot, Office Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Starbucks. Next year, it will go up to $17/hour to match the minimum wage.
