Dear Fifth Grade Families,
Blessed Sunday! I would like to thank each one of you for making time to meet me during our parent-teacher conference. Here’s the recap of our conference.
Fifth Grade Business
Fifth Grade marks the end of elementary years. Third and Fourth Grade levels are different in 5th that means the type of assessments and workload given to the students would be different and more complex.
Homework assigned is meant for additional practice. They only have 2 homework daily (Math and ELA), and sometimes three. It is not a lot of workload, however it is getting longer especially for Math. Time management and organization are important keys as we prepare them for JH. If work is assigned on a Monday, encourage them to accomplish them ahead of time. I ask you to encourage them to practice extra daily, and not procrastinate.
All assessments are scheduled, whether it is a quiz or chapter tests. We practice in class before our test day, especially the chapter or unit tests. We complete a study guide in class so that they can go over with it at home. It is not additional work, but additional review for them.
Social Studies
At the beginning of the chapter, I will post the pages we will be working on so that they can read it over at home. I still highly encourage that they study their notes and worksheets completed in class. It would be really helpful for them.
ELA
Journey’s online book access is also available in Google Classroom. Vocabulary words, reading comprehension, and grammar work are available fro them to practice.
