Halloween costumes
To ensure that all costumes follow our School’s Halloween costume guidelines, teachers will ask everyone what costume their child is planning to wear on October 31. Please be sure costumes meet all these guidelines below. They must be appropriate for a Catholic school and pre-approved, or a student may be sent home to change.
Please let your child’s teacher know what your child will be wearing before 10/31 so it’s pre-approved.
- Costumes should be child-friendly and not offensive to the Catholic faith and beliefs. No inflatables, no gory, bloody, or scary clowns, no devils, or scary/evil costumes. No Harry Potter or Pokémon costumes (please see Mrs. Grey’s email)
- Costumes Should Not:
- Be obstructive, offensive, inappropriate for a Catholic school (skimpy or revealing), gory, evil, violent
- Drag on the ground
- Contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another person.
- Contain any weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Students should be able to sit down in their costume and not obstruct the view of someone sitting behind them in class
- Encourage cross-dressing. Boys dress up like boys, and girls dress up like girls
- Students should be able to breathe well in their costumes
- Students must bring their own Halloween buckets/bag for trunk or treat. All students and adults volunteering may dress in their favorite appropriate Halloween costume and must follow these guidelines. The events are for students only. Adults working at or volunteering on campus for Trunk or Treat may earn up to 4 hours for decorating their trunks and helping to pass out candy. More information for volunteers will be given to parents by Lorena Lakey, our Room Parent PLC lead and Trunk or Treat Lead.
Nails & Accessories
Girls should not have nail polish, dangling earrings (only stud earrings), or wear jewelry (only religious jewelry allowed). No excessive bracelets on arms, only one simple bracelet (like a rosary bracelet). No ankle socks allowed at all, or prints on shoes.
Saint costume
On November 1st, Students may come to school dressed up as ANY Saint.
Saint costumes do not need to be elaborate! Students will process in Mass with the school in their costumes. Costumes should go over your child’s school PE uniform, as we will be changing after Mass. This will be part of their Religion participation grade.
Smart Watches
To maintain an environment that is conducive to learning and limits distractions in the classroom, we have established a policy that prohibits the use of smartwatches, including Apple Watches, Android Watches, and similar devices, by students while on school premises. These devices have various functions, such as calling, acting as calculators, and other applications, which can potentially cause disruptions to your child’s focus and that of their classmates.
We kindly request that smartwatches be kept at home and not worn or brought to school by students. Should your child need to contact you during school hours, our office and teachers are readily available to assist. Your child can reach out to them for any necessary communication, ensuring that you remain connected while your child continues their learning without unnecessary distractions.
We believe that this policy will help in maintaining an optimal learning environment and fostering the concentration and engagement of our young students in their studies. We ask for your support in ensuring that your child does not bring these devices to school.
