Dear SAP School Families,
I want to congratulate our middle school students on a job well done last week! Our College Fair was a huge success! A huge thank you to Ms. Helen Klute (who celebrates a birthday today) and to the Jr. High team for organizing this wonderful event. Thank you to all who came and supported our Jr. High students! We celebrate Red Ribbon Week today, promoting Drug Abuse Prevention with red shirts and jeans. Remind your children to Just Say No to Drugs and Alcohol.
For our Halloween celebration, please note that there will be a 12 Noon Dismissal tomorrow, with our 8th grade Pizza fundraiser at 11am (this is for those who prepaid). Daycare will be offered only till 3pm. Here are some Halloween Reminders to help today run as smoothly as possible. This event is for SAP students only. All students (and adults volunteering for Trunk or Treat) may dress in their favorite appropriate Halloween costume and must follow these guidelines. The events are for students only. Adults working at or volunteering on campus for Trunk or Treat may earn service hours for decorating their trunks and helping to pass out candy from 8-12.
Costumes must be appropriate and pre-approved, or a student may be sent home to change.
- Costumes should be child-friendly. No inflatables, no gory or scary costumes, no devils, or demonic looking costumes.
- Costumes Should Not:
- Be obstructive, offensive, inappropriate for a Catholic school (skimpy or revealing), evil, or violent
- Drag on the ground
- Contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another person.
- Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Encourage cross-dressing. Boys dress up like boys and girls dress up like girls.
Students have to be able to sit down in their seats and come to school already dressed in their costumes. Junior high students will attend Mass this morning and can change into costumes, if they so choose. Students will bring their own bag/pail for Trunk or Treat. Masks may be worn for the parade only, but they must not obstruct vision and eyes must be visible at all times. Masks will be taken off after the parade and picture taking. Please be sure costumes meet all these guidelines. Teachers may send home more info specific to your child’s class.
Don’t forget Wednesday, 11/1, is All Saints’ Day! We will have our all school Mass at 8am and a procession with all the students walking in from the back in their saint costumes. All students should be dressed as saints on Tuesday, 11/1. No need to have elaborate or expensive costumes. On 11/2, All Souls Day, we will be having another school Mass to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Students attending Mass should wear formal mass uniforms.
Thank you to all for your participation in the Fall Fundraiser Candy Sale. Stay tuned, we will confirm who qualifies for the Magic Show in the Hall on 11/9. We will begin our Holiday Cash Raffle Winter Fundraiser shortly. Thank you for all your support of our school!
God bless,
Angela Grey, Principal
Gabriel Reyes, Co-Principal

PLC SERVICE HOURS (30 hours per family each year)
Per your tuition contract, every family is asked to sign up for up to 4 Parent Leadership Committees so you have multiple chances to fulfill your 30 family service hours, valued at $15/hour or you will be charged. If you have questions, please email the office. We will email other service hour opportunities.
VOLUNTEERS
All visitors on campus must check in and out of the office at all times and wear a VISITOR badge. All Volunteers must be Fingerprinted through the ADLA and cleared, and have a current Virtus Training Certificate. AM and PM carline and lunch yard duty volunteers (from 12-1 daily) are needed. Please email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org if you are interested. For safety reasons, please call before you come to the office and buzz yourself in. Do not prop the door open for anyone, especially strangers. All parents are welcome to join the SAFETY PLC to increase security on our campus.
PARKING AND CARLINE SAFETY
All carline vehicles should never park/exit your vehicle in the carline areas, please continue to move safely along with the morning and afternoon carline traffic. There is additional parking area available to the left of the carline for anyone who needs to park for any reason, especially if walking your child to the classroom – please view parking map
In addition, never park or stop for drop off/pick up in the alley. This presents a risk to yourself, your child, pedestrians and also prevents safe access in the event of an emergency – please be aware of the sign indicating this NO PARKING area. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.
HFO (Hands, Feet, and Objects) to Self
Safety is first and foremost. Please remind your child to keep their hands, feet, and all objects to themselves. They can stay in their bubbles and personal space so they stay safe and keep others safe as well. Please teach them at home about “air hugs” and “air high-fives” so they don’t actually make contact with others. We are seeing too many injuries and too many “accidental” touches among students that lead to more serious issues. That said, if a student receives multiple verbal warnings about this, it could result in a conduct slip or detention. In more serious issues or repeat offenses, a referral or suspension. Please remind your children about the importance of self-control. Also, for all grade levels, there is NO SLIDING on the soccer field.
INTERIOR MAINTENANCE PLC and SERVICE HOUR BUYOUT
Please sign up for the Interior Maintenance PLC for service hours that can be earned on certain Saturdays from 12:30-3:30 p.m. You can also donate Scrip at the front office for school expenses. You may buy out your service hours for $15/hour for Scrip such as Home Depot, Office Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Starbucks.
MONTHLY EMERGENCY DRILLS
We continue to have emergency safety drills regularly, at least one per month. Please discuss procedures and your family’s plan with your children in the event of a fire, lockdown/intruder alert, or earthquake.
EARN ONE SERVICE HOUR FROM HOME!
Parents who review our school online on Yelp, Google, AND greatschools.org will earn up to one service hour after you send me your screenshots of all 3 sites as proof: to agrey@stanthonygardena.org.
