Dear First Grade Families,
I hope everyone is well! I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your active participation in the celebration of Catholic Schools Week last week and for joining us for the Special Persons Day Mass.
It was truly heartwarming to see the entire school community come together in the church to celebrate these special occasions. Your presence not only added to the joyous atmosphere but also made these events even more meaningful for our students.
Here is all the information that you and your child will need for this week, 2/5-2/9. Please take a moment to read through this week’s updates to avoid questions that are clearly stated in this email.
Monday, Feb 5th– 100th day of school
I am excited to inform you that this Monday, February 5th, we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! It’s a remarkable milestone, and I want to make it a fun and memorable day for our first graders.
To add a touch of whimsy to the celebration, I invite students to dress up as if they were 100 years old. This could include wigs, glasses, canes, and other creative accessories to showcase the spirit of a centenarian. I’m looking forward to seeing the creativity and enthusiasm our young ones bring to this special day.
Throughout the day, I have planned various fun activities to engage the students and celebrate their accomplishments in the first 100 days of school. These activities will not only be entertaining but will also provide valuable learning experiences for our children.
I encourage you to discuss the dress-up theme with your child, helping them put together a simple and imaginative 100-year-old outfit for the celebration.
100th day of school project DUE ON MONDAY 2/5
Last Wednesday, 1/10, I have sent out the instructions for our project for this month. I have included examples from the previous students as well.
On February 5th, 2024, Monday, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. We will be celebrating with many “100” activities throughout the day.
For our first-grade project this month, your child will be creating a “100” collage to share with the class. This is an opportunity for families to work together and be as creative as they can be by making a collage to display 100 items.
Progress Reports
On Wednesday, February 7th, I will be sending your child’s progress reports and STAR test results. With that being said, any missing/incomplete homework will reflect on your child’s grades. Please check Gradelink if your child is missing any homework and reach out to me directly if you have any concerns or questions. Please keep in mind that the progress report is just a snapshot of where your child is at right now. Final Grades will be given at the end of the 2nd trimester
Class Spelling Bee on Wednesday, Feb 21st
Spelling word lists were sent out last week, Wednesday 1/31. Please take time to review these words with your child. We will have our 1st grade class spelling bee on Feb 21st, I encourage all of the students to participate. The 2 spellers of our class spelling bee will be part our representative for the finals.,
The SCHOOLWIDE Spelling Bee will be on Wednesday, February 28th, from 10:30-12:00 in the Hall.
Crayons & Markers
As we are halfway through the school year, some of the students crayons and markers are broken or dried up due to regular use. I kindly request that you send your child to school on Monday with a new set of crayons and markers.
Bright life kids
I wanted to share some exciting information that I came across during a recent teacher conference I attended in Pasadena. One of the booths that particularly caught my attention is called Bright Life Kids, and I believe it could be a valuable resource for our children.
Bright Life Kids offers virtual health coaching and digital resources for children of all ages. Their platform provides 1:1 session with experienced mental health coaches, as well as a range of digital materials designed to support children’s overall well-being.
During the conference, I had the opportunity to learn more about Bright Life Kids and was impressed by the comprehensive approach they take to address various aspects of a child’s health, both physical and emotional. The personalized 1:1 session with qualified health coaches ensure that each child’s unique needs and challenges are addressed, fostering a supportive environment for their growth and development.
I believe that Bright Life Kids could be a valuable supplement to our efforts in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle for our children. If you’re interested, I encourage you to explore their website https://www.hellobrightline.com/brightlifekids/ for more information.
