Dear SAP School Families,
Happy Presidents’ Day! There is No School today. School will resume tomorrow 2/20. Kindergarten and 3rd grade wil have a field trip to the Getty Museum tomorrow. Please note it is expected to rain the next 2 days through Wednesday. Volunteers are needed during lunch duty from 12-1 for service hours.
Mr. Reyes is serving on a WASC Visiting Committee this week. Please keep him in your prayers, along with the school he is visiting. I will be off campus this Tuesday to Thursday for a family emergency and will return on Friday. In my absence, Mr. Carlos Aguilar will be in charge.
Last week we celebrated Valentine’s Day on Monday, received our ashes at Ash Wednesday’s Mass and on Friday, our K-8 students attended our first Stations of the Cross in the church. During this Lenten season, we encourage everyone to show more kindness to our neighbor, love each other, and sacrifice something. Remember that Lent is a time to remember that “from dust we came, to dust we shall return.” As we fast from what is not healthy for us, let us hunger only for God and His Eternal Kingdom. Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
Last Friday, 2/16, some of our students went to Bishop Montgomery High School for the TACSC leadership conference, and they learned so much. We are glad to build the leadership capacity of our students!
Our class Spelling Bees continue this week, and the Talent Show is on 3/7 in the Hall. Stay tuned for more information from your child’s teachers for these special events.
We are now in the 2nd week of Lent. The weekly Lenten Fish Fry and Stations of the Cross are every Friday. Knights of Columbus Fish Fry tickets are for sale after Mass on weekends and in the school office at $10 presale, $12 at the door.
Re-registration has begun! Please register online from February 20-23, 2024.
This week Friday, 2/23,24, we have our Lion King Field trip to Segerstrom. Hope to see you there!
Many Blessings,
Angela Grey, Principal
Gabriel Reyes, Co-Principal

INTERIOR MAINTENANCE PLC and SERVICE HOUR BUYOUT
Please sign up for the Interior Maintenance PLC for service hours that can be earned on certain Saturdays from 12:30-3:30 p.m. You can also donate Scrip at the front office for school expenses. You may buy out your service hours for $15/hour for Scrip, such as Home Depot, Office Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Starbucks. Next year, the price goes up to $17/hr to keep up with inflation and CA’s minimum wage.
MONTHLY EMERGENCY DRILLS
Our school has at least one safety drill per month. Please discuss procedures and your family’s plan with your children in the event of a fire, lockdown/intruder alert, or earthquake when they are at home. Last week, we had an Intruder Alert/Lockdown drill. The students did a great job. Thanks to all our staff members and students for preparing our students. We ask them to always act like it’s real.
VOLUNTEERS
All visitors on campus must check in and out of the office at all times and wear a VISITOR badge. All Volunteers must be Fingerprinted through the ADLA, cleared, and have a current Virtus Training Certificate. AM and PM carline and lunch yard duty volunteers (from 12-1 daily) are needed. Please email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org if you are interested. For safety reasons, please call before you come to the office and buzz yourself in. Do not prop the door open for anyone, especially strangers. All parents are welcome to join the SAFETY PLC to increase security on our campus.
EARN ONE SERVICE HOUR FROM HOME!
Parents who review our school online on Yelp, Google, AND greatschools.org will earn up to one service hour after you send me your screenshots of all 3 sites as proof: to agrey@stanthonygardena.org.
